On 3 June, First Gentleman of the Republic of Slovenia Aleš Musar hosted First Lady of the Republic of Lithuania Diana Nausėdienė in Slovenia.

Mrs Nausėdienė attended the 11th Bled Water Forum as a guest of honour. Held under the theme “From Source to Sea: Water–Climate Nexus and Cooperation for Water Resilience”, the forum brought together experts and decision-makers to discuss the future of water governance. Both Mrs Nausėdienė and Dr Musar addressed participants at the opening ceremony and took part in discussions throughout the event.

“Water never was, and is not, merely an environmental issue. Water security is inseparable from climate resilience, public health, economic stability, and even geopolitical security. It is a vital strategic asset and an absolute cornerstone of social resilience,” the First Lady emphasised.

Mrs Nausėdienė noted that climate change is having an increasingly significant and complex impact on the water cycle across Europe, and that even countries not currently experiencing water shortages must prepare for long-term changes. She also stressed that water is becoming an increasingly important part of international policy, with Lithuania actively contributing to this agenda through its actions.

The forum brought together representatives from more than 60 countries to strengthen international cooperation on water resilience, climate adaptation, and sustainable water management.

The Bled Water Forum is a non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing innovative technological solutions for improving water quality around the world. Dr Aleš Musar serves as Chair of its Board of Trustees.
