Aleš Musar, spouse of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, participated in the Fourth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, held on 12 September 2024 in Kyiv, Ukraine. He actively participated in the ‘Child Safety in Cyberspace’ panel during the event.

In the interview, Dr Musar once again addressed the issue of combating online threats to children. As a former educator, the First Gentleman of Slovenia believes that education is the answer. Countries should cooperate in making the best educational programs for children to recognise and share threats online. In his opinion, the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen itself serves as a prime example of such collaboration.

He also shared that the Ukrainian educational system has much to offer. Ukrainian children and teachers have more experience with online schooling than anyone else in Europe. Although these lessons were painfully learned due to the war, they could be beneficial for all countries around the globe.

‘There are really no limits and no borders, and whatever we do, we have to do together. I think that events like this Summit are a great way to do that. And they’re also a great way to show solidarity with the children of Ukraine, who are more exposed to the threats than anyone else in the world or at least in Europe at this time,’ — Aleš Musar said.

The Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen is an international annual event initiated by Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska in 2021. It is the meeting that brings together First Ladies and Gentlemen to address global challenges.
