Olena Zelenska and Melania Trump meet in New York

On 25 September 2025, in New York, the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, met with the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump on the margins of the UNGA 80th session.

During their conversation, they discussed humanitarian leadership, the importance of shared values, and above all, the protection of children and their childhood. Mrs Zelenska thanked Melania Trump for her support of Ukraine, particularly for her attention to children affected by the war and for her open letter calling for peace for children, addressed to the Russian leadership.

“I hope for further cooperation to protect what is most precious in the world – our children. Today, their protection is not only a common cause but a shared responsibility for our future,” said First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska.

The meeting served as a reminder of how soft power — humanity, empathy, and genuine dialogue — can influence global processes and strengthen understanding between societies.

The Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen Global Platform welcomes dialogue between first ladies from different countries and hopes that Melania Trump will join the community to work together with her counterparts in advancing humanitarian initiatives around the world.
