The First Lady of Poland, Agata Kornhausen-Duda, in response to a request from the Carmel charity organisation from Berdychiv, organised a week-long holiday for Ukrainian children at the presidential castle in the town of Wisła. The event was part of Poland’s efforts to support Ukraine in the face of the ongoing war.

The young guests were offered an eventful programme that included tours of the castle and museums, walks in the forest, visits to the zoo, and an introduction to the culture and history of the Silesian Beskids. The children also had the opportunity to take part in a lace-weaving workshop in which Agata Kornhausen-Duda also participated. The children themselves showed artistic performances that they had prepared before coming to Poland.

During the meeting, the First Lady of Poland addressed the children with words of support: ‘I am very glad that we can support you in this difficult situation. We know how difficult the reality is for you when you feel fear, fear for the future and your loved ones.’

Ms Kornhausen-Duda also expressed her gratitude to the representatives of the Carmel Charity for their humanitarian and psychological assistance to Ukrainians, especially in the period after the full-scale invasion, and stressed the importance of their work.
