First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska and First Lady of Germany Elke Büdenbender Visit Ukrainian Soldiers in Bundeswehr Hospital

During her visit to Germany in June 2024, Olena Zelenska, together with the First Lady of Germany, Elke Büdenbender, visited the Bundeswehr hospital in Berlin. The First Ladies spoke with Ukrainian soldiers undergoing treatment there, asked them about their personal stories and impressions of the treatment, and wished them a speedy recovery.

The Bundeswehr Hospital has extensive experience in treating combat injuries, limb prosthetics, and rehabilitation. It handles many complex cases, including those referred from other hospitals, and has treated over 100 Ukrainian soldiers in total.

“I thank our defenders. And thank Germany, which treats them as its own defenders,” Olena Zelenska said.

Additionally, during the meeting, the First Lady of Ukraine discussed further cooperation between the countries and their medical partnership with Mrs Büdenbender, and invited the First Lady of Germany to the fourth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, which will take place in 2024.
