First Lady of Serbia Tamara Vučić pays official visit to Africa to strengthen international relations

As part of her official visit, First Lady of Serbia Tamara Vučić visited the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Kingdom of Eswatini and the Republic of Zimbabwe. The visit was aimed at deepening friendly relations between Serbia and African countries and promoting cultural, economic and educational cooperation.

The first stage of the visit took place in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where Ms Vučić met with President Felix Tshisekedi and First Lady Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi. One of the highlights was a visit to the National Museum of the Democratic Republic of the Congo accompanied by Mrs Tshisekedi. Later, during a meeting with representatives of the Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi Foundation, UNFPA and FONAREV, the First Ladies discussed physical and mental health issues, combating gender-based violence and women’s empowerment.

The next destination was the Kingdom of Eswatini, where Tamara Vučić met with King Mswati III and Queen Mother Ntfombi Tfwala. During the meeting, the First Lady of Serbia underlined that the friendly relations between the two countries are characterised by respect and mutual understanding and said that both Serbia and the Kingdom of Eswatini are committed to strengthening bilateral relations.

The final stage of the tour was a visit to the Republic of Zimbabwe, where Mrs Vučić, President Emmerson Mnangagwa and First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa attended the first UN Tourism Regional Forum on Gastronomy Tourism for Africa. The prospects for cultural exchange and partnership between Serbia and Zimbabwe were discussed during the visit.
