Lucrecia Peinado, First Lady of Guatemala, joins the community of the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen

Olena Zelenska, the First Lady of Ukraine, and Lucrecia Peinado, the wife of President Bernardo Arevalo of Guatemala, held a video call to discuss the fourth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, which will take place on 12 September 2024. It was the first conversation between Mrs Zelenska and Mrs Peinado. Lucrecia Peinado became the First Lady of Guatemala in January 2024.

Mrs Peinado expressed her desire to join the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen community and confirmed her participation in the fourth Summit. Lucrecia Peinado has a wealth of experience in healthcare, mental health and early childhood disability. She has devoted her life to working in these areas at the national and international levels, and her expertise will be an essential contribution to the Summit.

Olena Zelenska also thanked her colleague for Guatemala’s continued support for Ukraine, especially after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion. Guatemala has become a member of the Crimean Platform, supported all UN General Assembly resolutions on Ukraine, and co-authored some of them. In addition, the country actively participated in the first Peace Summit and endorsed its communiqué.
