At the beginning of October, the Spouse of the President of the Republic of Serbia came to the Republic of Kenya and the Republic of Burundi and met with the First Ladies of these countries, as well as other government officials.

In August earlier this year, Tamara Vučić already paid official visits to other countries of Africa, including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Kingdom of Eswatini, and the Republic of Zimbabwe.

In particular, during the three-day stay at the Republic of Kenya, the Spouse of the President of the Republic of Serbia met with Rachel Ruto, the First Lady of the Republic of Kenya; Musalia Mudavadi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kenya; and Dorcas Oduor, the Attorney General of the Republic of Kenya.

‘Extending my appreciation to Kenya for its valuable assistance in protecting our country’s vital national interests, I conveyed my aspirations for the progressive advancement of the historically strong and cordial relations between Serbia and Kenya in multiple mutually beneficial domains,’ – said Mrs Vučić.

In the company of First Lady Rachel Ruto, Tamara Vučić also came to the Ruben Primary School in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, and interacted with local students and teachers, as well as donated learning tablets.

In addition, Serbia’s First Lady, accompanied by Attorney General Dorcas Oduor, had a tour through the Giraffe Centre and the Nairobi National Park. The purpose of the visit was to highlight the beauty of Kenya’s wildlife and the value of international partnerships in fostering environmental awareness.

Following her diplomatic trip to African countries, Tamara Vučić then personally met with President Evariste Ndayishimiye of Burundi. The Spouse of the President of the Republic of Serbia handed over the President’s letter to him, expressing ‘heartfelt gratitude for Burundi’s unwavering support in safeguarding Serbia’s crucial national interests’. In his turn, the President of Burundi agreed to visit Serbia and have Burundi represented at EXPO 2027.

Mrs Vučić also had an extensive conversation with Angeline Ndayishimiye Ndayubaha, Spouse of the President of Burundi. In particular, during their discussion, the First Ladies delved into the activities of the Angeline Ndayishimiye Ndayubaha Foundation and explored ways to enhance cooperation and foster stronger ties between Serbia and Burundi.

Furthermore, the Spouse of the President of the Republic of Serbia participated in the Fifth High-Level Forum of Women Leaders ‘Investing in Early Childhood to Build a Lifelong Strong Human Capital’, which took place in Bujumbura, Burundi.

‘This year’s topic of the Forum is especially close to my heart, and I wholeheartedly accepted the invitation of the Spouse of the President of Burundi, Mrs Angeline Ndayishimiye Ndayubaha. These forums are important places to meet, exchange experience, knowledge, ideas, programs, and to join efforts in tackling some of the most important topics for all,’ – stated Tamara Vučić.

Among other honoured guests of the event were Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi, First Lady of DR Congo; Zita Nyangue Oligui Nguema, First Lady of Gabon; as well as Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady of Nigeria.
