Podcast Premiere: ‘Child Safety at School’ dimension now on our YouTube channel

Within the Fourth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, held on 12 September 2024 in Kyiv, the KONTENTA audiovisual studio organized the recording of five podcasts featuring First Ladies and Gentlemen. These podcasts focused on various aspects of the safety and development of children and youth.

The podcast locations showcased visualized landscapes of Ukraine’s natural reserves, preserved in digital format in their untouched state (before the start of military actions in these areas). Among the featured locations were the Askania-Nova Biosphere Reserve, the Luhansk Nature Reserve, the Crimean Nature Reserve, the Great Meadow National Nature Park, and the Ukrainian Steppe Nature Reserve.

One of the podcasts was dedicated to the topic of child safety in schools and the educational process as a whole. Participants included Rossana Briceño, Spouse of the Prime Minister of Belize and an educator with 32 years of experience; Hanna Kudrinova, an English teacher at the relocated Mariupol City Lyceum; and Ukrainian schoolgirl Polina Medvid.

During the discussion, the participants touched on several important topics, such as:

• Creating conditions for fostering a sense of safety in the educational process for children.
• Establishing productive collaboration between parents and teachers to create a safe learning environment for youth.
• Developing more resilient and flexible educational models that address modern challenges.

Furthermore, the participants shared how their experiences in learning, teaching, and educational leadership shaped their understanding of ‘safety’ and explored ways to enhance safety for children worldwide.

In particular, Mrs Briceno emphasized the vital role of teachers in creating a safe learning environment for students, serving as trusted individuals whom children can always approach for advice and help.

Another significant aspect discussed was the support of mental health for both students and teachers, as well as the state’s provision of free specialist consultations.

The KONTENTA audiovisual studio became a platform for an honest conversation about youth socialization, mental health support for teachers and students, and finding common ground between educational processes in Ukraine and Belize.
